1968 Camero RS big block custom:
View at [http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2828120100088374113zVlmTc]
’68 Camero RS, totally restored and customized. Car was just completed 400 miles ago. Totally disassembled, totally stripped, properly prepped, and finished with PPG products from the bare metal up. All new metal where needed. No bondo! Blocked straight and finished with base coat/ clear coat. Painted in pieces, then reassembled, final sanded and buffed to mirror finish. Car sparkles like a rare gem, and the paint looks 20 feet deep. It looks bad – sounds bad – and IS bad! Not just another Camero.
Power is provided by a full roller, balanced and blueprinted 468 cu in big block and fed with an 800 CFM Edelbrock carb. Heads were cc’d and topped with Crane roller rockers. Cam is a Comp .588 lift roller pushing titanium springs and SS valves. It’s cooled with an aluminum cross-flow radiator fitted with dual, shrouded electric fans. Exhaust leaves thru a set of ceramic coated Hookers to a full Flowmaster 2 ½” exhaust system. The sound is awesome! Trans is a blueprinted TH400, and gear selection is by a B&M shifter. Car rolls on 17” Americans fitted with BFG G-Force 235/45ZR 17”s in front and 255/50ZR 17”s out back. Car stops with big 12” vented ECI disks up front and 11” disks in the back. Cornering is flattened by a huge sway bar in front stabilized by QA-1 adjustable coil-over shocks on Global West tubular control arms. The accessories are mounted on the engine using a polished Billet Specialties V-Trac system. This car was built to drive and cruises with 3.42:1 a posi-traction rear dampened with QA1 shocks and HD sway bar..
Every piece of chrome was replaced, and all of the stainless trim is new. All the glass is new. All the weather strip is new. Except for the miles put on it to de-bug it, this car is as new as it was the day it rolled of the dealership showroom floor. Only today, it’s a whole lot more car.
A Vintage Air unit keeps the interior cool and power steering makes it a nice driver. Every piece of the interior is new. Upholstery, carpet, headliner, door panels, window cranks, A/C ducts and bezels, Covan dash insert sporting big, easy to read Autometer gauges. New glass, package tray, steering wheel, etc., etc., etc.
The car was built by a professional who has restored everything from 30’s V-12 Packards, Shelby 500’s, chopped top customs, 60’s muscle cars, and Studebakers. You can check on the quality of his workmanship through a long list of references. This car is a driver-friendly show car that you can enjoy. If the list of components sound like a Who’s Who directory, its because nothing but the absolute best components were used in its construction. You could not build this car for the asking price of $70,000.00
